DIY “Williams-Sonoma” Moss Wreath

For Mother’s Day this year my mom had a simple request, to make her a look-a-like wreath to this (sorry to be the one to say it) extremely over priced, but beautiful, wreath she saw in the Williams-Sonoma catalog. The wreath is also featured on their website right now, priced at $119.95…I made mine for around $20!!!

Here’s what you will need:

  • 2 bags of live moss ($5 each)
  • 1 straw wreath – I used straw because I like the shape & size the best ($5)
  • Burlap that is stitched on the ends & about a ft wide ($8-$10)
  • Glue gun
  • Glue sticks

What to do:

  1. Go through the moss and find the largest pieces you can. You will use small pieces to fill in the smaller spaces, the ones that have the chunky bark are the easiest to apply glue to.
  2. Take the pieces of moss and hot glue them to the wreath. I only glued moss on what you would see from the front and sides, but had I been putting this on a glass door, I would do the whole thing in moss.
  3. After the glue has cooled, take the burlap and measure and cut to how long you want it to be hanging on your door. Pictured below:

4. I made a cheat bow! After I cut the burlap to the length that I wanted, I nailed it with a small nail to the door.

5. Cut your desired length and tie just a normal bow. After this just attach to the nail on the door. I cut the ends as you can see in the photo below:

The wreath looked perfect on the door of my parents lake house! I was pretty proud of this wreath! Loved how it turned out. Gluing the moss to the wreath was really easy too!

Hope y’all like it!
